I had no idea how the 3D printer worked before i experienced it in class. I've seen my friends use it many times because they create stuff for comicon. It's very interesting how detailed it makes the plastic figures, and the wide variety of possibilities that it holds on the websites. This is something that i plan to use more in the future.
After reading the paper on flipped-class lectures, i realized that this is more common than anyone thinks. In fact, it is used here at OPSU by some of our professors. This is an interesting technique , but helps the students prepare for what they are going to talk about in class. I guess you could say it helps them prepare for the discussions better so that they could get a better idea of what the content is about.
Where 3D printing has yet to really make a huge impact, but provides an ample amount of opportunity, is within educational institutions. These range from elementary schools to high schools, universities, and maker spaces around the globe. One reason that 3D printing has been quite slow in making its impact in these institutions is simply because of the lack of knowledge of the technology. Therefore, we have learn some basic knowledge in 3D printing technology and will need to update our information or database so that we can bring this piece of technology into schools!!
